Brent Watson presented our program last meeting, an update on his pharmacy, Central Coast Pharmacy Specialists, the only PCAB Accredited compounding-only pharmacy in the State of California north of Los Angeles.
What is “compounding”? Well that’s what Brent shared with us. In a nutshell it’s “customized medications to meet each patient’s specific needs”. It is literally, "just what the doctor ordered".
Compounding is fundamental to Brent’s profession and it was the standard way to get prescription medications before big drug companies stared producing in mass quantities.
Brent and the people that work with him have been trained to meet “patient-specific” medicines for human and veterinary needs. This includes: dye-free and preservative-free topical gels, flavors, transdermal creams, sterile injectables, IV nutritionals, pain management, hormone restoration therapy, and the handling of hazardous materials used in cancer treatments.
For more information, you can check out Brent’s website at www.ccpsrx.com/index.htm.
