Mike and Charlotte Byrne were our program speakers and they talked about their involvement with the El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO). In 2000 they gathered a group of friends and started the shelter in the north county. The Interfaith Coalition, 11 churches and 1 synagogue, helped in this effort. A year later they began serving hot meals on a daily basis. Now in its permanent location in Atascadero, the shelter serves about 35 persons nightly. To learn more about the shelter and ways in which they need assistance, please visit them on the web at www.echoshelter.org.
| Thanks Rotary for Cleaning the Road! |

What a TEAM! Brent, Jeff, Carrie, Cindy, and Frank (the fearless leader) did a great job on our Adopted Highway, Las Tablas Road.
The cleanup took place last Saturday, Sept. 12, and I think Rob was there, but he may have taken the picture. (Photo submitted by Carrie).
