President Bill leads the meeting of a new Rotary year! It was a great first meeting with party hats and homemade cake (complements of Patti Van Orden).
Arnie Dowdy, past District Governor, was the program speaker and there were several guests, including Loretta Butts, charter president of our club.
Next meeting will be a Club Assembly. President Bill will outline his goals and each member of the board with share their goals and objectives for their area of responsibility.

Over 900 hot dogs were sold at the 4th of July Fund-raiser. Susan gets to be recognized as
the "Dog Dealer" of the new year. She peddled some 159 dogs out and about the park. Way to go Susan!
Arnie shared a lot of Rotary history with us during his talk, and one of those pioneers of Rotary he mentioned was James Wheeler Davidson.
In August 1928, Canadian Rotarian James Wheeler Davidson set sail from Montréal, Québec, with his wife, Lillian, and teenage daughter, Marjory, on what was to be an eight-month voyage to organize Rotary clubs in the Middle East and Asia.
It turned out to be a nearly three-year odyssey during which he chartered 23 clubs in 12 countries, from Turkey to Thailand. He is admired as the man responsible for making Rotary International a worldwide organization. Read more and view some really old photos of his odyssey...
